Impressionist paintings appear as if the artist didn't quite finish their training, or so I thought. Plus, I wasn't even seeing good reproductions most of the time.
After watching a BBC documentary on Monet and the other impressionists of the time, I became interested. I looked at a few art books. Now when I see reproductions of the paintings, I see them differently. I let my imagination work. While I might not be as impressed with Monet's bridge as the artist was, I like the style better now. And if you can find it online, I highly recommend the 3 hour long BBC documentary, The Impressionists.
